Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Horicon Community Recreation Director will supervise all areas related to the city of Horicon Recreation Department. This includes planning, developing, administrating, expanding, and evaluating all programs and services offered by this department.

Located 30 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin, the YMCA of Dodge County has a $2.0 million budget, an annual campaign goal of $175,000, and operates in a 16-year-old 65,000 square foot facility with the region's finest indoor water park and Child Development Center. The Y has a strong before/after school program with seven sites located throughout the county. Programs are also driven by strong aquatic programs that includes operating seven community aquatic centers. Our Y continually strives to create new ways of impacting over 23,000 lives annually.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, develops, and executes programming for the Horicon School District Recreation Department.
  • Youth Leagues - basketball, soccer, t-ball, coaches pitch baseball, baseball, volleyball, football, etc.
  • Youth Classes – sports development & skills, gymnastics, dance/jazz, bowling, karate, etc.
  • Adult Program/Leagues - flag football, karate, open basketball, pickleball, etc.
  • Fitness Classes - body pump, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, abs, etc.
  • Teen Classes - teen dances, teen strength and conditioning, etc.
  • Enrichment Programs – art enrichment, CPR, first aid, computer classes, environmental classes, technical skill classes.
  • Childcare-before and after school care, summer day camp, school's day out programs, etc.
  • Summer School Curriculum Classes-summer swim lessons, pottery, archery, art, math, sports camps, etc.
  • Employs staff related to programs being offered; trains, directs, schedules, supervises, and evaluates performance regularly.
  • Actively solicits and trains volunteers to assist in programming. Does appropriate background checks, etc.
  • Prepare and administer Horicon School District Recreation Department budget. Produces payroll/salary tracking sheets, and budget corrective action sheets.
  • Evaluates enrollment, program facilities, equipment and services provided. Adds new programs and drops existing programs when appropriate.
  • Provides on-going training and assistance to staff and volunteers to assure the highest quality in programming and safety.
  • Develops, writes, and executes all marketing information materials related to the department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director.

Salary: $58,656 – $65,000/year

Status: Full Time-Exempt - 40 hours/week

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the School Age Child Care & Summer Camp Director will program, manage, and implement all School Age Child Care Program locations and Summer Day Camp. Essential Functions

  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual with strong management/leadership ability, particularly in the areas of supervision, administration, budgeting, interpersonal relations, recruitment and training.
  • Expertise in program development, promotion and public relations. The ability to communicate effectively in large group settings is essential.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience in child care or education field.
  • A 2-year college degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; must have Registry level of 12 or higher; 4-year college degree is preferred.
  • If college degree is not in Early Childhood Education, 12 college credit hours must be in early education field. College transcripts must be provided. If college degree is not in Early Childhood Education, must be able to start a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) within 1 year of hire or equivalent as determined by the YMCA.
  • Possess current First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Training, or the ability to attain within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to have experience in organizing, conducting, supervising, and evaluating performance of assigned programs and staff.
  • Good verbal and written skills are required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable driver’s record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.

Salary: $58,656 – $65,000/year

Personal Trainers

Part time hourly rate based off experience and certification. Must be certified by Personal Trainer Certification through a nationally accredited organization including, but not limited to NETA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, AEA.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Personal Trainer follows the YMCA of the USA Health and Fitness guidelines and is responsible for planning and leading a range of individualized or group exercise/activity sessions for clients in a fitness specialty area. They perform a variety of fitness programs that are both educational and motivational and provide guidance on ways to support healthy lifestyles and healthy lifestyle changes. The Personal Trainer also provides customer service which promotes member wellness in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop, implement, and instruct a variety of personal training and group training sessions for clients at an appropriate level and in the appropriate modality based on clients wants, needs, and ability. Provide encouragement and expertise for the client in support of their health and well-being goals.

• Administer, track, and evaluate health history questionnaires, fitness assessments, and other preparticipation documentation with regard to individual exercise programs.

• Adhere to all guidelines and expectations as outlined in the Northfield Area Family YMCA Employee Handbook which includes but is not limited to providing safe classes and sessions and responding to and reporting any accidents or incidents.

• Educates members in proper use of equipment.

• Provides a cohesive approach to customer service and training that directly impacts the participant’s commitment and personal growth.

• Maintains client list and records as required by the Program Director.

• Maintain required CECs and national certifications.

• Follow Wellness Floor or Pool expectations when not scheduled for personal training, group training, or performing a consultation.

Camp Counselor

Join our team of Summer Camp Counselors and have the best summer ever! Make a difference in campers’ lives! This position will supervise and facilitate daily activities of a group of day campers. Camp activities follow weekly themes and daily activities include opening ceremonies, theme-based activities, outdoor games, lunch, group swimming in family aquatic center, and afternoon activities. Staff and campers will take weekly field trips on Fridays to area venues. Training provided for camp including behavior management, program planning, and camp procedures. Must commit to being a positive role model to all campers in your care. Camp runs May 30 – September 1, Monday – Friday from 6:30am-5:45pm

Pay

  • $12.00/hour up to 40 hrs per week.

Qualifications

  • Facilitate scheduled camp program areas in a safe and enjoyable way. Assist campers with skill-building throughout their summer.
  • Maintain a clean camp environment, including outdoor space, classroom, program areas and grounds.
  • Uphold YMCA character values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) and good sportsmanship in the camp culture.
  • Promptly report incidents, accidents, and facility issues to Directors.
  • Provide a daily report on your group to the Day Camp Director.
  • Supervise camp group and communicate with Directors.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times. Wear a clean Staff Shirt on Friday for Field Trips.
  • Arrive at work on time and prepared for the day. Ensure your group is on time for scheduled activities.
  • Complete duties as assigned by your supervisor or Camp Director as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable camp experience for all participants.
  • Apply disciplinary needs in a manner appropriate with YMCA standards. There is a zero-tolerance policy for bullying from staff OR campers.
